Workstation / Viewer
A diagnostic or clinical viewer where radiologists and clinicians open and read images.
When to use it
Add a workstation/viewer wherever studies are retrieved and read from the PACS or VNA.
In plain terms
The reading desk where images are checked out and interpreted.
Common gotchas
- Viewers typically query and retrieve (C-FIND / C-MOVE); they rarely store.
- Diagnostic viewers have regulatory display requirements a generic viewer doesn't.
- Prefetching settings affect how fast prior studies appear.
