Server Room
An on-premises server room or data center where core systems and databases are physically hosted.
When to use it
For on-prem infrastructure — PACS servers, databases, engines running in the building.
In plain terms
The locked back room where the important machines actually sit.
Common gotchas
- Physical and network access controls both apply here.
- On-prem means you own uptime, backups, and disaster recovery.
- It is often a separate VLAN from the clinical LAN even though both are internal.
